Lasting Posture Correction, Naturally

Our holistic approach realigns your body from the inside out. By fixing the imbalances that cause slouched shoulders, forward head posture and misaligned hips, we improve posture in a way that feels natural and sustainable.

Our team of posture correction specialists help you stand taller, move better and live free from the discomfort of poor posture — through movement-based techniques that restore proper muscle activation and joint alignment.

Our Process For Natural Posture Correction

A structured, effective process to correct posture at the root.

1

Initial Consultation

In a 90-minute session, your posture specialist assesses your gait, posture, diet and lifestyle. Gait analysis is crucial — it reveals how misalignments in movement affect your posture. A diet assessment helps address bloating, which can drastically impact posture, and supports building fresh muscle and tissue where you need it.

2

Weekly Sessions

We conduct 60-minute weekly sessions to target the asymmetries and weaknesses found in your gait cycle. These sessions focus on rebalancing the body and improving your movement patterns.

3

Your Result

As your body balances and integrates these patterns, your posture naturally improves — leading to relief from any associated chronic pain.

"Before starting FP I was in chronic pain from head to toe on the left side of my body and had suffered constant headaches for most of my adult life. Not only was it the physical pain, but it was taking a toll mentally — causing low mood, irritability and not being able to concentrate or think straight. Performing the simplest of tasks was becoming a real struggle in my work and family life. After multiple physiotherapy and remedial massage appointments I was left angry and frustrated when I realised my pain was not getting any better, with no hope in sight. That's when I found Functional Patterns. After 8 months training with Jen I can now move better, with more tension in my body and I'm completely pain free. Mentally I feel great now and at 35 years old this is the best I've ever felt in my life. Starting with FP has been a life saver — thank you Jen."

Functional Patterns posture and spine assessment on the Gold Coast

Why See Our Spine & Posture Specialists

Do you suffer from neck pain, chronic pain, stiff muscles and joints, or impaired range of motion? Each of these symptoms can trace back to poor posture. Bad posture causes you to over-work your neck muscles during daily activities — leading to neck pain and even headaches or migraines.

Poor posture also affects your core. Many people know weak core muscles can lead to poor posture — but it goes the other way too. Plenty of people spend hours in the gym working their core yet simply cannot feel it activating, because we need proper alignment of the human body to activate the core correctly.

At Burleigh Biomechanics, we use the Functional Patterns Method to correct poor posture for the long term. Our specialist correction exercises target the movement patterns and asymmetries that lead to poor posture.

Posture-Related Patterns We Correct

Externally Rotated Shoulders+
Externally rotated shoulders are usually a compensation for poor rib-cage position and a lack of rotational control through the thoracic spine. Instead of trying to "pull them back," we restore ribcage mechanics and trunk rotation so the shoulders sit neutral without force.
Hyperextension+
Knee or lumbar hyperextension happens when the posterior chain isn't doing its job. We focus on re-integrating the glutes, hamstrings and lower abdominal system so the joints stop locking out as a stability strategy.
Glute Tightness+
Tight glutes aren't usually short — they're overworking because the pelvis is unstable. Instead of stretching the symptom, we correct pelvic rotation, hip extension mechanics and gait sequencing so the glutes relax naturally.
Hip Extension+
Most people extend through their lower back instead of their hip. We retrain glute-driven hip extension within gait, helping the pelvis move smoothly without overloading the lumbar spine or quads.
Hip Adductors+
Adductors aren't just "inner thigh muscles" — they stabilise rotation of the pelvis. We integrate the adductors into gait so they work with the glutes, not against them. No machine-based isolation needed.
Hips That Click / Joints That Click+
Clicking hips or joints usually indicate timing issues in the pelvis. We identify whether the click comes from rotation faults, lack of glute tension or poor sequencing — then correct the movement pattern.
Tight Trapezius Muscles+
Tight traps are rarely a trap problem — they compensate for rib-cage collapse or neck instability. Instead of stretching, we rebuild rib position, core integration and shoulder mechanics so the traps stop overworking.
Postural Vertigo (BPPV / Vestibular Links)+
Vertigo often worsens when the head and neck aren't aligned with the ribcage and pelvis. We improve balance through integrated movement patterns, reducing vestibular irritation from poor posture.
